My Life…

Let me start by saying I am going to try to blog more often. We will see how long this lasts, hopefully longer then two days. lol

Since I last wrote my life has been crazy as usual. I have made it through my first semester of college. It was in some ways easier then I expected and in other ways it was harder. I have learned a lot and am very blessed to have had this opportunity to come up to Bible school.  I have met a ton of awesome people and have been blessed with the opportunity to play piano for one of the schools traveling singing teams. The first semester I wasn’t to pleased to by playing piano,  just because it really wasn’t my plan. It is so fun though and I enjoy it now. I didn’t at the beginning, but I have learned so much and it exactly what I needed to do.

Right now I have had a challenge put out by a friend to not log onto facebook for two weeks. I am on day 4 (I think. lol) and so far I haven’t missed it. I thought I would miss it more then I do. I guess Bible school has fixed what little of a facebook addiction I had at any time. I really never have time to go on facebook anyway, so this is just a way of my proving to myself that it really isn’t necessary.  So, I will keep my blog updated on how I am doing in this little challenge.

Right now at the start of the new semester we are having a missions conference. It has been really good, the messages have been awesome, and the music is amazing as always.  :) I am supposed to play piano tomorrow night, but I have the stomach flu and I really don’t know if I will be feeling well enough to play tomorrow….we will see.

The other big news is that I have a part time job in the office at school. I work with the receptionist and a couple of other people doing random little jobs. I love every minute of it. :)

My goals this semester are to be more productive in my free time, to work-out more, and to spend at least a half hour a day playing the piano. So far I am doing okay. Other then the working out, which hasn’t happened yet only because we have the conference this week and that doesn’t get done until like a half hour before curfew and there just isn’t time. Also, today the piano practicing didn’t work so well, just because I felt so sick. But I can work on that. :)

God Bless!

The Play

I am so proud of my little sister. :) She has a great time at the auditions and we just found out she will be in the choir for the play. I am not quite sure what that means, but I am sure she will do great and have a great time. :)

Auditions

My little sister is going to audition for the High School play this year!! I am so excited for her.  Since I am too old and can’t audition I am kinda vicariously living though her.  I think I might be more excited about auditions then she is.  I know she will do a great job!!  I will be up early to drive her into town. So, I better get some rest! Good luck SARAH!!!!

You might be a Lutheran if…..

I found this awhile ago and it made me smile. Hope you enjoy! :)

… You’re watching Star Wars and when they say, “May the force be with you,” you reply, “and also with you.”

… You sing “Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus” while sitting down.

… You have an uncontrollable urge to sit in the back of any room.

… During communion you hum the hymns so you can see who’s at church that Sunday.

… A meeting isn’t a meeting unless it takes three hours.

… The church is on fire, and you rush in to save the coffee pot.

www.oldlutheran.com is one of your bookmarks.

…you only serve Jell-O in the proper liturgical color for the season.

…when someone mentions red and green (in terms of Christmas), you immediately think of a battle over hymnals.

…during the entire service you hold your hymnal open but never look down at it.

…rather than introducing yourself to a visitor at church, you check their name out in the guestbook.

…you have your wedding reception in the fellowship hall and feel guilty about not staying to help clean up.

…a midlife crisis means switching from the old hymnbook to the new one.

…you forget to put water in the baptismal font but never forget to put water in the coffee pot.

…the pastor skips the last hymn to make sure church lasts exactly 60 minutes.

…your choir believes volume is a fair substitute for tonality.

…in response to someone jumping up and shouting “Praise the Lord!”, you politely remind him or her that we don’t do that around here.

…peas in your tuna noodle hotdish add too much color.

…you make change in the offering plate for a ten.

…your dad’s name is Luther N., your brother is Luther Hahn and you are Lew Theran.

…you have more than five flavors of Jell-O in your pantry.

….you talk to someone else and look at their shoes first.

…the only open pew is up front, so you volunteer to shovel the sidewalk.

…Ole and Lena are really the names of your relatives.

…you think hotdish is one of the major food groups.

…your five-year-old recites the Old Testament books as Genesis, Exodus, Lutefisk…

…someone asks you after church if there’s any “decaf coffee” and you laugh because you KNOW that if it doesn’t have caffeine, it can’t be coffee!

…you think the term “Jell-O salad” is redundant.

…you freeze the leftover coffee from fellowship hour for next week.

…when you were little you actually thought the Reverend’s first name was “Pastor.”

…you think you’re paying your pastor too much if he gets a new car for the first time in eight years.

…you hear something really funny and smile as loud as you can.

…doughnuts are in the official church budget.

…they have to rope off the last pews in church so the front isn’t empty.

…you tap a church visitor on the shoulder and say, “excuse me, but you’re in my seat.”  ( My Favorite. lol )

…you doodle on the back of communion cards.

…you can say the meal prayer all in one breath.

…Bach is your favorite composer just because he was Lutheran, too.

…you hesitate to clap for the church choir or special music because “it just wasn’t done that way in the old days.”

…your church library has three Jell-O cookbooks.

…you laugh out loud while reading this list, and relive your childhood at the same time.

… you think the four food groups are coffee, lefse, lutefisk, and Jell-O.

…you can actually come up with responses to this.

…you sign a petition to have Campbell Soup Co. rename its “Cream of Mushroom soup” “Lutheran Binder!”

…you actually think the pastor’s jokes are funny.

…the bumper sticker on your car says, “Legalize Lutefisk!”

… you pronounce the word Lutheran “Lutern.”

…requests you hear are preceeded or followed by the phrase, “If it’s not too much trouble then…”

…you know all the words to the first verse of “Silent Night” in German but can’t speak a word of it.

…you carry silverware in your pocket to church just in case there’s a potluck.

… P.M.S. is defined as “Post Merger Syndrome.”

…your house is a mess because you’re “saved by Grace,” not by works.

…the doilies underneath the Thanksgiving flowers make nice snowflakes at Christmas.

…you think the communion wafers are too spicy.

…your mother reminds you often that she wishes you’d studied the organ.

… you dress up as your favorite reformer for Halloween.

…your mother could give any Jewish mother a run for the money in the guilt department.

…you think lime Jell-O with cottage cheese and pineapple is a gourmet salad.

…you think that an ELCA Lutheran bride and an LCMS groom make for a “mixed marriage.”

…Folgers has you on their Christmas list.

…all your relatives graduated from a school named Concordia.

…you count coffee among the sacraments.

…You commonly refer to 7:00 pm as standard Lutheran time.

…You try to make everything into an acronym.

…You understand what these acronyms actually mean: LYF LCMS, DYG, NYG…

…You know 67 ways to prepare a bean hotdish, and you’ve never made any of them

… It takes 10 people to put lilies on the cross for Easter

… The only wine you like is the communion wine.

…it’s a 100 F, 90% humidity, and you still have coffee after the service.

…the church budget contains a line item for donuts…just like coffee.

…the communion cabinet is open to all but the coffee is locked up tight.

Running

I have finally started to run again.  After getting the concussion in January, I couldn’t run for over three months. I am better now, which means I am back out on the road! I ran for the first time yesterday. Me and my friend ran about 3 miles, which isn’t to shabby for my first run in a little over 5 months! Surprisingly I am not to sore today. My plan is to run three days a week. I figure that is enough, but not to much. I am going for another run tomorrow!! I can’t wait, I didn’t notice how much I missed running till I started again. It is like dance for me, I can’t live without it!

I hope everyone enjoys the long weekend!!

I am graduating!!

It is true, I have finally made it!! After 12 years of homeschooling and who knows how many hours of book work, I am done! Well, tomorrow I will be. :) I will be graduating Tuesday evening. It is very strange to think that I will be done with high school forever as of tomorrow evening. Well, I will be done in the eyes of the public, but I still have two books to read for Dad’s class and the SAT to take. After that I will be completely finished with high school. Back when I was in 5th grade, 6th grade, 7th grade, 8th grade…ect. I remember sitting at the school table ( aka the kitchen table) thinking to myself I will never be done with school, the day is here and I can hardly believe it. I am very excited for what the next year will bring, but at the same time I don’t want to leave all my friends and family. I guess it is just part of life, but it doesn’t make it any easier. I shall keep you all posted on my summer plans and all the exciting things that fall will bring. :)

Enjoy the warm weather!!

~Anne~
